WHAT IS MOUNTAIN TRAIL?
Mountain Trail was created in 2001 at the Oregon Horse Centre, USA.
Mark and Lee Bolander recognized the beauty of this new sport so established Bolander Horse Park in Washington State, the first to be built specifically for year - round, full time training in Mountain Trail and Extreme Mountain Trail.
Unlike many disciplines, every breed of equine can participate in mountain trail. It is suitable for all riders from Olympic competitors to those who are just starting out with their first horse, from youth riders to those in their 80's.
You can ride in any type of saddle - dressage, jumping, roping, equitation, reining and endurance. You can ride with a normal bitted bridle through to a bitless, headstalls or bridleless, harsh bits however are not welcome to the sport.
Since 2001, Mountain Trail courses have been set up in countries such as France, Canada, Germany, Italy as well as here in Australia.
We are proud to be one of the first courses to be established in NSW.
Ourimbah Creek Mountain Trail is the first to be built in NSW to the IMTCA standards.
